Crafting Unique Experiences through Interaction DesignThank you for visiting my website. My name is Gregor and I am happy to be graduating from the University of Dundee in June with a Digital Interaction Design degree. Here you'll find some of my favourite projects.
Bread and ButterPhysical InteractionsI find great pleasure in using Arduino and related software to develop impactful and playful physical interactions.

Interfacing with AI creating disruptive, focus shifting patterns
Personally, I believe that designing human-centered interfaces, whether physical or screen-based, will play a significant role in the future of AI and design.
JamGPT is a unique tool that breaks routine thought patterns by shifting the musicians focus. This creates disruption in the writing process which can in turn help inspire new ideas and perspectives, whilst also highlighting the increasing importance of AI in every-day applications.
In this project, I engineered real-time AI interactions. Physical inputs link with an internet-connected Arduino, which securely sends requests to OpenAI servers. The outcome is a disruptive prompt, printed via a thermal printer, intended to shake up a musician's thought patterns and songwriting process.

Combining colour and music for a playful interaction.
In 2022, for a Royal Society for Arts brief, I designed 'Colour Synth', an interactive tool using colours to illustrate musical notes. Combining Arduino with MaxMSP sound software, it's a unique, engaging approach to learning. See it in action in this video and explore the project boards below.
AI is everywhere. AI is going to be Design.
Many job positions for "prompt engineer" have already started cropping up.
User-friendly AI interfaces are poised to become a key aspect of future design. It's crucial for designers to grasp the significance and disruptive nature of AI in our evolving design landscape. In my final year project, I delved into AI and its implications, sparking a keen interest in further exploring the fields of AI design and ethics.
Navigate Naturally
Haptics and sensors
Designed to assist the visually impaired, this product employs a proximity sensor and haptic feedback for easier navigation in familiar surroundings, like home. Users can place sensors at various locations, receiving unique vibration cues for identification and guidance. It's a simple, effective approach to enhance daily navigation.

Pictures cannot convey how intense the glow of molten metal is
Moving away from physical computing, I had the rewarding chance to work with Roddy in the DJCAD foundry. The result was a brass piece showcasing the stunning contrast achievable through varied finishing techniques. The exterior gleams with a polished shine, while the interior sports a distinctive patina - a unique effect created through heat and sulphur-based chemicals.
